University of Oxford

The University of Oxford is made up of 38 colleges and 6 halls with over 70 research facilities. Fortunately, many of them are based in the centre of Oxford which makes finding them and getting around much easier; though none are more than a 30 minute walk or short bus ride from Oxford’s city centre.

The centrally located colleges, listed below, are in the heart of Oxford and perfectly placed to make use of the shops, restaurants and main visitor attractions during your stay.

To the east of the city centre, towards the vibrant and multicultural Cowley Road area you’ll find St Hilda’s College and St Stephen’s House. This area is popular with students and here you’ll discover an array of bars, cafes and restaurants serving local and international cuisine. Cowley Road is also host to an annual carnival which attracts thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the lively music, dancing and performances on offer.

Just north of Oxford City Centre you’ll find Green Templeton College, Kellogg College, Lady Margaret HallSt Anne’s College, St Anthony’s College, St Hugh’s College, Somerville College, Wolfson College and Wycliffe Hall. Set in the bohemian Jericho and Summertown areas of the city, you’ll enjoy access to fine dining, independent bookshops and galleries. All of the colleges in North Oxford are well serviced by local bus routes or you can stroll through the wide streets and admire the Georgian and Victorian architecture on display.
