Located near Keble College in the city centre, this newly renovated historic museum is a wondrous delight, featuring many interesting displays, ranging from dinosaur skeletons, zoological displays, gem and rock crystals, fossils, entomology collections, geological, palaeontological, and mineralogical specimens, and much more.
The exhibits occupy a large central court. The museum is connected with the Pitt Rivers Museum next door, and provides the only access to it — so, if you have a full day available, seeing both of these key museums in Oxford is possible when in the city centre. Both are also good for families with children, and have shops with interesting books, etc.
The Museum of Natural History was awarded the Guardian Family Friendly Museum Award in 2005 and there is a full programme of family activities running throughout the year; Upcoming events are listed on their website.
